Let’s Get Messy With Fermented Desserts – 17 August


Get messy with this hands-on workshop. Learn to make fermented desserts and take the ferments that you make home with you. Join us for dinner and dessert after (included).

What: Hands-on Fermented Desserts Workshop – with dinner to follow

Cost:$145 (Early bird special – if booked on or before 27 July – $160 (if booked after 27 July)

Includes: Workshop & dinner, take-home amazake, take-home gluten-free sourdough pie crust (that you made), take-home fizzy fruits (that you made), cultured desserts recipe book. 

Fermented Desserts Workshop Details

This is a hands-on workshop which means you will have a chance to get close and personal with these ferments.  In this fermented desserts workshop we will start by discussing the science behind the fermented desserts that we will be looking at.  We’ll also talk about the health benefits of each ferment.

Experience includes: Learning how to make the following winter cultured desserts. 

  • Deconstructed Apple pie with
    • fizzy apples & water kefir gelee and
    • miso caramel on a base of
    • gluten-free sourdough pastry. 
  • Fermented & enzyme-rich matcha rice pudding (AKA amazake),
    • fizzy strawberries,
    • activated almond granola and
    • sweet black sesame dumplings 

All of the above will be enjoyed after dinner and served with a scoop of coconut kefir ice cream. 

You take home

  • All the components of both desserts to assemble and indulge on a later date. (Components includes miso caramel, fizzy apples, fizzy berries, gluten-free sourdough crust to bake at home, rice pudding cultures to ferment, activated granola and coconut kefir cream). 
  • recipe book with all the recipes required to make the desserts again, and again and again! 
  • A belly full of nourishing GUTSY food, Ferments and desserts.

Dinner to follow

After the workshop we invite you to share a GUTSY rice bowl topped with seasonal salads and ferments  (dinner is included in the cost of the course).  Following dinner we invite you to enjoy and indulge in the fruits of your labour ie. cultured desserts that have been prepared earlier.  During this time we will discuss what we have learnt and inspire each other with recipes to try at home!
